Full-scope demolition and site clearing for commercial developers, municipalities, and public works projects.
Heyl Construction handles commercial and municipal demolition projects across Garfield, Eagle, and Pitkin counties, from single-building teardowns to full site clearing ahead of new development. We’re the contractor developers and public works managers call when they need the demolition, the permitting, and the site prep handled by one crew instead of three. As a CDOT-approved contractor with 27 years on the Western Slope, we know the terrain, the freeze windows, and what it actually takes to keep a commercial project on schedule.
One Crew, Full Scope. Demolition, permitting, and site prep handled by one contractor.
Full-Scope Capability Demolition, site clearing, and civil work under a single contract, no coordinating between separate contractors.
CDOT-Approved Contractor Qualified for demolition tied to public roads and municipal infrastructure projects.
GPS-Guided Precision Trimble machine-control equipment keeps site clearing and grading accurate once the structure is down.

Years on the
Western Slope
Heyl Construction has been based in Silt, Colorado since the beginning. For more than two decades we’ve done civil work up and down the western slope, from Glenwood Springs to Aspen and Vail to Parachute, this isn’t a market we moved into, it’s home, and we know it well.
We deliver a quality civil construction product at a price that makes sense, and we do what we say we’re going to do: accurate bids, realistic timelines, and a GPS-guided Trimble fleet that keeps grading and excavation precise. From a 42-acre mixed-use development with a water ski lake and CDOT improvements to a half-mile private road paved under budget and ahead of schedule, we deliver at every scale across this region.
From full structural teardowns to selective interior demolition, here’s what’s in scope.
Full structural demolition for commercial, industrial, and municipal buildings, down to grade and ready for what comes next. We handle the CDOT and CDPHE paperwork so you’re not chasing permits on your own timeline.
Strip-outs, tenant improvements, and partial removal for commercial spaces that need to come down without touching what’s staying. Ideal for redevelopment, lease turnover, and remodel projects.
Removal of commercial parking lots, pads, driveways, and roadway sections, cleared and hauled so the site’s ready for regrading or repaving.
Clearing old structures, foundations, and site debris ahead of new commercial or municipal development, so your civil team can start grading on schedule.
CDOT-approved demolition for public roads, municipal buildings, and infrastructure projects, built to meet state and local bid requirements.
Demolition debris sorted, hauled, and recycled where possible, using our own fleet instead of a third-party hauler, so nothing sits on-site longer than it has to.
If your project’s on the Western Slope, there’s a good chance we’ve already worked nearby. Tell us what you’re planning and we’ll get you a proposal.
Deep local knowledge of Colorado’s terrain, soil conditions, seasonal freeze windows, and utility requirements. We’ve worked this corridor for decades and know what it takes to deliver here.
Trimble machine-control equipment means accurate cuts and fills on every project. Less rework. Tighter tolerances. Better finished grades.
Excavation, grading, underground utilities, road construction, paving, and demo, all handled under one contract by one crew. No coordination headaches between subs. No finger-pointing when something slips.
Qualified for public road and municipal infrastructure projects. If your project touches a public right-of-way or requires state certification, we have the credentials to handle it.
We don’t low-ball to win work and make it up in change orders. Our estimates are detailed and our timelines are realistic. If something changes on site, you hear about it early, not at invoice time.
Tandem dumps, side dumps, end dumps, lowboy, and GPS-guided grading equipment, all in-house. We control the schedule, not a third-party operator.
A detailed bid, permitting handled, and a clean site handed off on time.
We walk the site with you to assess what’s coming down, whether it’s a full structural teardown or selective interior work, and flag anything that affects timeline or cost upfront.
You get a detailed bid, and we handle the CDPHE asbestos inspection and state demolition permit filing on our end, so you’re not managing paperwork on top of your project.
We build the schedule around your project deadlines and the Western Slope’s seasonal freeze window, so grading and site prep aren’t racing the first hard freeze.
GPS-guided equipment, dust control on active sites, and debris sorted and hauled with our own fleet as we go, not left piled for someone else to deal with later.
A final walkthrough confirms the site’s graded and ready for the next phase, whether that’s our crew moving into site prep or handing it off to your next contractor.
The Tree Farm PUD is a 42-acre mixed-use development in the Roaring Fork Valley with a water ski lake and extensive CDOT improvements. When we needed an experienced civil contractor to handle all the infrastructure, including a lift station adjacent to the lake, Heyl won our trust and our business. They’ve been a pleasure to work with, and I’d recommend them for any civil construction needs.
CFO, Geronimo Ventures LLC
They paved our half-mile stretch of private road, had to deal with ten contrary homeowners, and they did a great job. I was one of the few who didn’t want the road paved, but they were very professional, worked with us as much as possible on the disruption, came in under budget, and finished quicker than planned. Absolutely five stars.

Yes. Colorado requires a CDPHE-certified asbestos inspection and a state demolition permit before any demolition project, regardless of the building’s age, plus a mandatory 10-working-day waiting period before work can start. We handle the inspection and permit filing as part of your proposal, so it’s built into the schedule from day one.
Structural demolition is a full teardown of a building or structure. Selective (or interior) demolition removes specific parts of a building, like interior walls or fixtures, while leaving the rest intact, common for tenant improvements and remodels.
Yes. Demolition, excavation, grading, and utility work are all in-house, so your project moves from teardown to build-ready without switching contractors or coordinating between separate crews.
Yes. We regularly work as the civil and demolition contractor under a GC or developer’s project team on commercial and municipal jobs across the Western Slope.
We haul debris with our own fleet, dumps and lowboys included, and recycle materials where possible instead of routing everything straight to landfill.
As early as possible, especially for projects that need to wrap grading or site prep before the ground freezes. Permitting alone takes at least 10 working days, so the earlier we’re looped in, the more schedule flexibility you have.
Whether it’s a full building teardown, a site clearing project, or municipal infrastructure work, we’ll walk the site, handle the permitting, and give you a bid you can actually plan around.
