In-house dump trucks and lowboy transport for civil sites across the Western Slope.
We run our own fleet of tandem, side dump, and end dump trucks, plus a lowboy for moving heavy equipment between sites. Material shows up when your crew is ready for it, and equipment gets to the next job without waiting on a third-party hauler’s calendar. We haul on the civil projects we build, and for developers, contractors, and public agencies that need dependable construction trucking across Garfield, Eagle, and Pitkin counties. Our drivers know these roads, from tight mountain access to Glenwood Canyon in January.
Our Trucks, Our Schedule. Tandems, side dumps, end dumps, and a lowboy, all in-house.
Tandem, side dump, and end dump trucks we own and dispatch ourselves.
Excavators, dozers, and loaders moved between sites with routes and permits planned ahead.
Drivers who run I-70, Glenwood Canyon, and mountain access roads year-round.

Years on the
Western Slope
Heyl Construction has been based in Silt, Colorado since the beginning. For more than two decades we’ve done civil work up and down the western slope, from Glenwood Springs to Aspen and Vail to Parachute, this isn’t a market we moved into, it’s home, and we know it well.
We deliver a quality civil construction product at a price that makes sense, and we do what we say we’re going to do: accurate bids, realistic timelines, and a GPS-guided Trimble fleet that keeps grading and excavation precise. From a 42-acre mixed-use development with a water ski lake and CDOT improvements to a half-mile private road paved under budget and ahead of schedule, we deliver at every scale across this region.
The right truck for the load saves time on every trip. Here’s what our fleet handles.
Our tandem dumps take on the smaller loads and tighter job sites where a big rig can’t turn around, including steep mountain roads and residential-scale access. Dump truck hauling for road base, gravel, and fill, with trips sized to what your site can actually take.
Side dumps unload fast and in a controlled line, which makes them the go-to truck for road work and long utility trenches. We use them for construction material hauling along roadways, placing base or bedding right where the crew needs it with less extra handling.
Our end dump truck service moves large volumes, rock, and bulky material in fewer trips. Most end dump trucking companies just drive. Our drivers work alongside our own excavation and grading crews, so loads land where the next step of the job needs them.
Our lowboy moves excavators, dozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery between job sites. Heavy equipment transport in the mountains takes route planning and the right permits, so we plan both before the move and your equipment arrives ready to work.
On-schedule material hauling for aggregate, fill, rock, and spoils, to and from your site. The trucks are ours, so delivery timing never hinges on a third-party trucking company, and your construction trucking lines up with the crew on the ground.
Tell us what needs to move, where, and when, and we’ll put together a hauling plan and proposal for your job.
Deep local knowledge of Colorado’s terrain, soil conditions, seasonal freeze windows, and utility requirements. We’ve worked this corridor for decades and know what it takes to deliver here.
Trimble machine-control equipment means accurate cuts and fills on every project. Less rework. Tighter tolerances. Better finished grades.
Site clearing, excavation, grading, subgrade prep, erosion control, and hauling, all under one contract by one crew. No coordination headaches between subs. No finger-pointing when something slips.
Qualified for public road and municipal infrastructure projects. If your project touches a public right-of-way or requires state certification, we have the credentials to handle it.
We don’t low-ball to win work and make it up in change orders. Our estimates are detailed and our timelines are realistic. If something changes on site, you hear about it early, not at invoice time.
Tandem dumps, side dumps, end dumps, lowboy, and GPS-guided grading equipment, all in-house. We control the schedule, not a third-party operator.
Five steps, no chasing trucks. Here’s how a haul goes from your first call to the last load.
Share the material type, rough quantity, pickup and drop points, and your timeline. For equipment moves, we’ll need the make, model, and approximate weight and dimensions.
We pick the right truck for the load and check site access, turnaround room, and road limits. For lowboy moves, we sort out oversize permits and plan around winter road rules on I-70.
We time deliveries and equipment moves to your crew’s work, so base arrives ahead of paving and bedding shows up as the trench opens.
Side dumps lay material in a line along roadways, end dumps drop bulk rock and fill, and tandems handle the tight spots. Our drivers dump where the crew needs it, which cuts down on rehandling.
We confirm what was delivered or moved so the numbers match your records, and we keep haul routes and site entrances clean as the job wraps up.
The Tree Farm PUD is a 42-acre mixed-use development in the Roaring Fork Valley with a water ski lake and extensive CDOT improvements. When we needed an experienced civil contractor to handle all the infrastructure, including a lift station adjacent to the lake, Heyl won our trust and our business. They’ve been a pleasure to work with, and I’d recommend them for any civil construction needs.

They paved our half-mile stretch of private road, had to deal with ten contrary homeowners, and they did a great job. I was one of the few who didn’t want the road paved, but they were very professional, worked with us as much as possible on the disruption, came in under budget, and finished quicker than planned. Absolutely five stars.

Our home base in Silt sits right off I-70, which puts the whole corridor and the Roaring Fork Valley within easy reach of our trucks. We run construction hauling services in:
Silt New Castle Rifle Parachute Glenwood Springs Eagle Vail Edwards Avon Gypsum Dotsero Carbondale El Jebel Basalt Snowmass Aspen
Both. Our fleet supports the civil projects we build, and we also take hauling and equipment transport work for developers, general contractors, and public agencies. Tell us about the job and we’ll let you know how our schedule lines up.
It comes down to the load and the site. A 10-yard tandem fits tight access and smaller loads. A 20-yard side dump unloads quickly in a line along roads and trenches. A 20-yard end dump is built for large volumes of rock and bulky material. Not sure? Send us the material, quantity, and site access details, and we’ll match the truck.
We do. Oversize and overweight moves usually need a permit, and a state permit doesn’t cover every road. CDOT’s oversize/overweight permits apply only to the state highways listed on them, and the hauler has to get permission or permits from each city and county to use their roads. Garfield County, for example, issues its own single-trip and annual permits for oversize and overweight loads on county roads. We plan the route and the permits before the lowboy rolls, so your equipment doesn’t get stuck at a county line.
Yes, and we plan for it. Colorado requires commercial vehicles over 16,000 pounds to carry tire chains from September 1 through May 31, and trucks can’t use the left lane in Glenwood Canyon, at Dowd Junction between Avon and Vail, or on the west side of Vail Pass. Our drivers run these routes all winter, and we build weather and closure risk into delivery windows for jobs in Vail, Avon, Eagle, and beyond.
We haul aggregate, fill, rock, and spoils to and from your site. Material sourcing is something we talk through during the proposal, based on what your project needs and where it’s coming from.
Every job is priced on its own, based on truck type, haul distance, number of loads, site access, and any permits for oversize equipment moves. You’ll see the breakdown in your proposal. Call 970.984.3404 or request a proposal to get a number for your job.
Tell us what needs to move and when. We’ll match the truck, plan the route, and get it on the schedule.
